The first new theatre to be built in London for 80 years, Bridge Theatre is located in Potters Fields Park, Southwark, with heritage views of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
Bridge Theatre provides new levels of flexibility and advanced performance possibilities for a London theatre outside of the traditional West End. The theatre itself has become a frontage component of a new residential development neighbouring City Hall, playing a role in public realm activation, and bringing new life into a significant area south of the River Thames.
The project involved a highly complex fit out around base build services installations and a bespoke auditorium. Innovation and technology played critical roles in the design and development of the auditorium, as a mock-up room was built and tested offsite in modular form, prior to being constructed as a fully coordinated structure within the shell of the theatre building. Additionally, the modular design of a zone comprised of a stage and stalls enables complete flexibility for multiple performance concepts and formats, with short set-up times between productions.
Working on behalf of the client, London Theatre Company, we were engaged in the Cost Management and Procurement Management roles for the project, while also acting as the Lead Negotiator on Landlord Contributions with the landlord, Berkeley Homes.
